Job summary

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED; associate degree welcomed.
• Strong verbal and written communication.
• Attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently or in a team.
• Familiarity with computer applications preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification (ASCP or equivalent) preferred.
• Previous phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Experience in lab Patient Service Centers preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform specimen collections by venipuncture and capillary techniques for all age groups.
• Validate or enter patient demographics and insurance information in BILH systems.
• Prepare specimens for transport to the BILH laboratory.
• Open, operate, and close the Patient Service Center daily; perform clerical duties.
• Assist in training PSC Phlebotomists as needed.
• Travel to additional PSCs and doctor sites when required.
• Follow departmental policies and participate in QA and continuing education.
