Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Phlebotomist to collect specimens in Patient Service Centers, while providing exceptional patient service. Responsibilities include entering patient data, performing venipuncture and capillary collections, and preparing samples for transport to the laboratory.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• Associate degree or college classes welcomed.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
• Basic familiarity with computer applications.
• Phlebotomy certification from ASCP or another accredited agency preferred.
• Previous experience as a phlebotomist preferred.
• Experience in lab Patient Service Centers preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent phlebotomy and related services for patients.
• Validate/update patient demographics in the BILH system.
• Collect specimens by venipuncture and capillary techniques for all ages.
• Prepare specimens for transport to the BILH laboratory.
• Perform daily administrative duties to open/close the PSC.
• Assist the Phlebotomy Supervisor with training and mentoring.
• Travel to additional PSCs and doctor sites when needed.
• Follow departmental policies, QA programs, and continuing education requirements.
