Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Patient Service Center Phlebotomist to perform specimen collections and deliver friendly, professional service in various patient service centers and medical office settings.

You will collect specimens, enter patient and test orders, and ensure accurate data in the clinical system while adhering to policies and maintaining high patient satisfaction.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Associate’s Degree or college classes welcomed.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
• Comfortable working with minimal supervision.
• Basic familiarity with computer applications preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification from ASCP or another accredited agency preferred.
• Previous experience as a phlebotomist preferred.
• One or more years previous experience working in lab Patient Service Centers preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent phlebotomy and phlebotomy-related services for all patients.
• Validate and/or update patient demographic and information in the BILH computer system for previously ordered tests.
• Collect specimens by venipuncture and capillary techniques for all age groups.
• Prepare specimens for transport to a BILH laboratory.
• Perform administrative duties to open/close the PSC daily.
• Assist in training, coaching, and mentoring PSC Phlebotomists as needed.
• Travel to additional PSCs and doctor’s offices when required.
• Adhere to departmental policies and participate in QA and continuing education.
