Pheresis Donor Care Technician

Job summary

CSL is seeking a dedicated staff member to support pheresis procedures, including donor preparation, donor area setup, and equipment readiness. The role involves monitoring the donor and pheresis process, responding to alarms, and safely disconnecting the donor when complete, while maintaining donor safety and confidentiality.

You will document incidents using the PDA, link equipment to donors, alert supervisors to flow issues, and ensure accurate data entry per SOPs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of three (3) months’ work experience, preferably in medical or health provider environment or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Must be able to perform basic math calculations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the donor, donor area and equipment for the pheresis process.
• Prepare the autopheresis machine for the pheresis process.
• Monitor the donor and the pheresis process, respond to alarms or signals.
• Disconnect the donor when the process is complete.
• Maintain awareness of donor reactions and notify appropriate staff.
• Record incidents using the PDA, including alarms, volume variances and donor adverse events.
• Link equipment and consumables to the appropriate donor in the PDA.
• Alert Group Leader or Supervisor of donor flow issues.
• Ensure accurate donor data entry in the electronic donor information system per SOPs.
• Understand policies for hyper immune programs at the center, if applicable.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and ensure supplies are available, following HSE/OSHA policies.
• Maintain confidentiality of personnel, donor and center information.
• May be cross-trained in other areas as needed.
• Bilingual skills may be required at organization’s discretion.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
