Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Perishable Department Manager to oversee Produce, Meat, Dairy, Bakery and Frozen sections. You will manage inventory, ensure appealing product presentation, and uphold safety and food handling standards.

You will also train staff and support store leadership in scheduling and operations. Ideal candidates have 2–3 years retail experience, a high school diploma, and ability to follow plans and maintain quality.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform mathematical calculations including percentages.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and cashier accountability.
• Ability to perform cash register functions.
• Knowledge of safety policies and practices in a retail setting.
• Ability to read and follow plan-o-gram and merchandise presentation guidance.
• Effective interpersonal and written communication skills.
• Willingness to obtain required local/state food handling certifications.

Responsibilities

• Manage Perishable Departments including Produce, Meat, Dairy, Frozen foods, Bakery, and related areas.
• Maintain correct perishable stock levels and use planning tools.
• Train associates in presentation, freshness, pricing, and food handling standards.
• Ensure scheduling coverage in collaboration with Store Manager and ASM.
• Record inventory levels and perishable markdowns; analyze causes and take corrective action.
• Ensure sanitation standards and safety compliance in all perishable areas.
