Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Perishable Department Manager to lead Produce, Fresh Meat, Dairy, Frozen Food, Bakery, and related perishable areas. You will manage inventory, ordering, pricing, and merchandising while delivering excellent customer service in a safe store environment.

The role requires 2–3 years of retail experience, ability to train staff, and adherence to food-handling regulations. This is a full-time, on-site position with opportunities to contribute to store performance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two to three years of retail clerk experience.
• Attainment of required local and state food handling certifications, if applicable.
• Previous lead experience and/or grocery store experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain correct perishable stock levels based on store volume using the following tools.
• Assist in training assigned associates in proper presentation, freshness and pricing standards for all perishable areas.
• Assist in training assigned associates in proper and safe handling of food in compliance with rules and regulations.
• Assist in training assigned associates in the proper execution of hourly recovery standards to model store standards.
• Train assigned associates in proper stocking and rotation of Perishable products.
• Assist Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager in ensuring adequate scheduling coverage.
