Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Perishable Department Manager to oversee produce, meat, dairy, bakery, and related perishable areas. You will support the Store Manager with inventory accuracy, merchandise presentation, and safe, compliant operations.

The role requires strong cash handling, math skills, and leadership in a fast-paced retail environment. Prior supervisory experience in grocery is preferred, with emphasis on food safety and customer service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Retail experience with supervisory exposure is desirable.
• Certifications in local/state food handling may be required.
• Ability to follow SOPs, policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in managing perishable departments (produce, dairy, meats, bakery).
• Maintain inventory levels and stock freshness; ensure proper merchandising.
• Train associates on presentation, freshness, and pricing standards.
• Ensure compliance with sanitation and food handling rules.
• Record inventory, markdowns, and customer requests efficiently.
