Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Perishable Department Manager to lead Produce, Fresh Meat, Dairy, and Bakery sections in a fast-paced retail environment. You will ensure accurate inventory, appealing merchandising, and safe, compliant operations while delivering excellent customer service.

You will train associates, manage shift staffing, and partner with store leadership to optimize perishable performance, control shrink, and maintain fresh product quality in accordance with company policies.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations including percentages.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and deposit control.
• Ability to operate a cash register and manage transactions.
• Understanding of plan-o-gram and merchandising presentation guidance.
• Strong interpersonal and written communications skills.
• Familiarity with safety policies and food handling rules.
• Willingness to obtain required food handling certifications.
• Two to three years of retail clerk experience; lead experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain correct perishable stock levels based on store volume using relevant tools.
• Assist in creating and following Ads/Planners and Order Guides.
• Oversee perishable departments including Produce, Meat, Dairy, Frozen, Bakery.
• Train associates on presentation, freshness, and pricing standards.
• Ensure proper stocking, rotation, and sanitation of perishable items.
• Support scheduling coverage and assist Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager.
