Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Perishable Departments Manager to lead the produce, dairy, meat, bakery, and frozen foods sections under the Store Manager. You will optimize inventory, ensure attractive merchandising, and deliver quality customer service in a fast-paced retail environment.

You will train associates, enforce food handling rules, and maintain safe operations while protecting company assets and supporting store performance goals.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret documents and procedures manuals.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations including percentages.
• Ability to learn cash register functions and generate reports.
• Knowledge of cash handling, deposits, and loss prevention.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Ability to follow safety policies and plan-o-gram guidance.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in ensuring financial integrity through cash control and security practices.
• Follow SOPs, handbook, and communications.
• Maintain perishable stock levels using store tools and plans.
• Train associates in freshness, presentation, and pricing standards.
• Train associates in proper and safe handling of food per regulations.
• Record inventory levels and assist customers with needs in a timely manner.
