Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Perishable Department Lead to manage the produce, dairy, and bakery areas, ensuring freshness and proper presentation. You will assist the Store Manager with inventory, pricing, and customer service while maintaining safe and compliant operations.

You will train associates on perishable handling, stock rotation, and markdown practices, and support daily store functions to meet sales and quality targets.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret diagrams, safety rules, and procedures.
• Ability to perform basic math calculations and percentages.
• Ability to learn cash register functions and generate reports.
• Ability to review operating statements for trends and opportunities.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and deposit control.
• Knowledge of inventory and merchandising practices.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in maintaining perishable stock levels and using order guides.
• Ensure adherence to cash control procedures and security practices.
• Train associates in proper presentation, freshness, and pricing standards for perishable areas.
• Record inventory levels and perishable markdowns, analyzing causes and corrective actions.
• Support customer service and respond to customer needs in a timely manner.
• Ensure sanitation standards and safety policies are followed across the Perishable departments.
