Job summary

Dollar General seeks a Perishable Department lead to manage produce, meat, dairy, bakery and related areas. You will support the Store Manager with inventory control, merchandising, and quality customer service while ensuring safe working conditions and asset protection.

You will train associates on freshness, pricing standards, proper food handling, and proper stocking/rotation of perishable products, while recording inventory and addressing customer needs promptly.

Qualifications

• Read and interpret diagrams, safety rules and instructions.
• Perform basic math and percentage calculations accurately.
• Learn cash register functions and generate reports.
• Review statements for sales, profitability and turn trends.
• Know cash handling, deposit control and security practices.
• Understand inventory and merchandising practices.
• Follow plan-of-gram and merchandising guidance.
• Comply with company policies and safety rules.
• Willing to obtain required food handling certifications.

Responsibilities

• Manage Perishable Departments including produce, meats, dairy, and bakery.
• Assist Store Manager with inventory, presentation and customer service.
• Maintain stock levels and plan orders from guides and recaps.
• Train associates on freshness, pricing and safe handling.
• Record perishables markdowns and analyze causes.
• Ensure sanitation standards and incident prevention.
• Provide timely customer service and address needs.
