Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Perishable Department Lead to support the Store Manager in managing produce, dairy, frozen, and bakery sections, ensuring fresh, safe, and appealing merchandise while optimizing inventory and profitability.

You will train associates, uphold food safety rules, and maintain daily customer service standards, with a focus on accurate pricing, stock rotation, and efficient operations in a fast-paced retail environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Previous lead experience and/or grocery store experience preferred.
• Attainment of required local and state food handling certifications, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in maintaining perishable stock and inventory.
• Ensure cash accountability and security practices.
• Train associates in proper presentation, freshness, and pricing standards for perishables.
• Uphold safety and food handling regulations and provide excellent customer service.
