Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Perishable Department Lead to manage produce, meats, dairy, frozen foods, and bakery areas. You will assist the Store Manager with safe operations, inventory control, and compelling merchandise presentation while ensuring excellent customer service.

Responsibilities include training associates, maintaining perishable stock levels, and enforcing food-handling safety rules. Strong math, cash handling, and plan-o-gram skills are required for daily store support.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Previous lead experience and/or grocery store experience preferred.
• Attainment of required local and state food handling certifications, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in maintaining financial integrity through cash accountability and security practices.
• Ensure perishable stock levels align with store volume and follow ordering guides.
• Train associates on presentation, freshness, and pricing standards in perishable areas.
• Record inventory levels and perishable markdowns, analyze causes, and take corrective action.
• Maintain sanitation standards and ensure compliance with safety procedures.
