Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Perishable Department Lead to manage produce, meats, dairy, bakery and related perishables. You will partner with the Store Manager to maintain inventory, ensure appealing merchandise presentation, and provide excellent customer service while complying with safety and sanitation rules.

You will train associates, manage stock levels, and help safeguard assets and store profitability.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret diagrams, safety rules, instructions and procedures.
• Ability to perform calculations including percentages and basic math.
• Ability to operate cash register and generate reports.
• Ability to review statements and identify trends in sales, profitability and shrink.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures, cashier accountability and deposits.
• Knowledge of safety and security practices and policy compliance.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Effective interpersonal and written communication.
• Understanding of food handling safety requirements and certifications.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager with financial integrity through cash accountability and security practices.
• Ensure perishable stock levels align with store volume and guidelines.
• Train associates on presentation, freshness and pricing standards for perishables.
• Record inventory levels and perform markdown analysis to reduce losses.
• Maintain compliance with sanitation standards and safety policies in perishables.
• Support other operational areas as directed by the Store Manager.
