Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Perishable Department Leader to oversee the produce, dairy, meat, bakery, and related departments. You will assist the Store Manager with inventory management, merchandising presentation, and customer service while safeguarding assets and food safety standards.

You will train associates in perishables handling, monitor stock levels, and ensure plan-o-gram adherence. Strong communication and cashier control skills are essential for daily operation and store compliance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Previous lead experience and/or grocery store experience preferred.
• Attainment of required local and state food handling certifications, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in ensuring the financial integrity of the store through strict cash accountability, key control, and adherence to cash control procedures.
• Maintain correct perishable stock levels based on store volume using the listed tools and guides.
• Train associates in proper perishable presentation, freshness, and pricing standards.
• Record inventory levels and perishable markdowns and analyze causes to prevent recurrences.
• Ensure customers' needs and requests are addressed promptly and home in on sanitation standards.
