Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Perishable Department Leader to manage produce, meats, dairy, bakery, and frozen items. You will help optimize inventory, maintain presentation standards, and ensure safe, compliant operations while supporting the Store Manager in cash control and asset protection.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• One year of retail experience and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Attainment of required local and state food handling certifications, if applicable.
• Previous lead experience and/or grocery store experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in maintaining perishable stock levels using provided tools and guides.
• Ensure safe working environment and protection for company assets; follow cash control procedures and security practices.
• Train associates in proper presentation, freshness, pricing standards, and safe handling of food in compliance with rules.
• Record inventory levels and perishable markdowns; analyze causes and take corrective actions to prevent recurrences.
• Provide courteous customer service and address customers' needs and requests promptly and efficiently.
