Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Perishable Department Manager to oversee produce, dairy, meat, bakery, and other perishable items. You will assist the Store Manager with inventory accuracy, merchandising, and safe operations, while ensuring high-quality customer service and compliance with food handling rules.

The role emphasizes training of associates in stocking, freshness, and pricing, with focus on reducing waste and maintaining plan-o-gram compliance.

Qualifications

Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
Ability to perform basic math calculations and use a cash register.
Ability to review statements and identify business trends and shrinkage.
Knowledge of cash handling procedures and deposit control.
Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.

Responsibilities

Assist Store Manager with perishable department stock levels and ordering processes.
Maintain accurate perishable inventory and price markdowns.
Train associates in proper stocking, presentation, and freshness standards.
Ensure compliance with sanitation and food handling rules.
