Job summary

Dollar General Corporation is seeking a Perishable Department Manager to supervise the produce, meat, dairy, and bakery areas. You will support the Store Manager with inventory, pricing, and customer service to drive safe, profitable merchandising.

You'll train associates on freshness standards, food handling, plan-o-gram compliance, and safety procedures while maintaining stock levels and ensuring accurate cash handling and loss prevention.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• One year in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Ability to read diagrams, safety rules, and plan-o-gram guidance.
• Strong math and cash handling skills.
• Ability to obtain required local/state food handling certifications.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager with inventory management and merchandise presentation.
• Maintain perishable stock levels and coordinate with vendors.
• Train and supervise assigned associates in food handling and safety.
• Ensure compliance with cash handling, security practices, and SOPs.
• Record perishable markdowns and monitor causes to reduce waste.
