Job summary

Dollar General seeks a Perishable Department Manager to lead Produce, Fresh Meat, Packaged Meats, Dairy, Frozen, Bread, and Bakery items. You will optimize stock levels, drive attractive merchandise presentation, and ensure exceptional customer service while safeguarding assets and enforcing food safety rules.

You will train associates, oversee scheduling coverage, and monitor markdowns and inventory accuracy to minimize waste and improve store performance.

Qualifications

Ability to perform basic math and percentages for pricing and shrink analysis.
Knowledge of cash handling procedures and cashier accountability.
Ability to read plan‑o‑grams and merchandising guidance.
Familiarity with required local/state food handling certifications.

Responsibilities

Maintain correct perishable stock levels based on store volume using relevant order guides and planning tools.
Assist in training associates in proper presentation, freshness, pricing, and safety standards for perishable areas.
Support scheduling to ensure adequate coverage and smooth store operations.
Record perishable markdowns and analyze causes to prevent recurrences.
Record inventory levels accurately and safeguard company assets during operations.
Ensure sanitation and safety standards are followed and train staff accordingly.
