Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Perishable Department Manager to oversee Produce, Fresh Meat, Dairy, Frozen Foods and Bakery areas. You will manage inventory, merchandising, and ensure safe, compliant operations while delivering excellent customer service.

Responsibilities include coordinating staff scheduling, training associates in perishable standards, recording markdowns, and maintaining freshness and pricing integrity across departments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Two to three years of retail clerk experience preferred.
• Previous lead experience in grocery or retail settings is advantageous.
• Attainment of local/state food handling certifications, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Perishable Departments including Produce, Fresh Meat, Dairy, and Bakery to ensure freshness and proper stock levels.
• Maintain accurate inventory and use planning tools to optimize stock and pricing.
• Train associates on proper presentation, freshness, and pricing standards.
• Ensure compliance with safety, sanitation, and food handling regulations.
• Assist Store Manager with scheduling and coverage; monitor performance and provide feedback.
• Record perishable markdowns and investigate causes to prevent recurrences.
