Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Perishable Department Manager to oversee Produce, Fresh Meat, Packaged Meats, Dairy, Frozen, Bread and bakery areas. You will ensure accurate inventory, appealing product presentation and strong customer service in a fast-paced store environment.

Responsibilities include maintaining stock levels with planning guides, training associates on safety and food handling, coordinating schedule coverage, and ensuring compliance with sanitation rules.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two to three years of retail clerk experience preferred.
• Attainment of required local and state food handling certifications, if applicable.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations and data entry.
• Understanding of plan-o-gram and merchandise presentation guidance.

Responsibilities

• Manage perishable departments including Produce, Fresh Meat, Packaged Meats, Dairy, Frozen Food, Bread and bakery items.
• Maintain correct stock levels based on store volume using perishable planning tools.
• Train associates in proper presentation, freshness, pricing, and food handling procedures.
• Ensure safe handling of food and compliance with rules and regulations.
• Assist Store Manager with scheduling coverage and performance follow-up.
