Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Perishable Department Lead to oversee produce, meat, dairy, bakery, and related departments. You will support the Store Manager with inventory control, pricing, and merchandising to maximize freshness and profitability.

You will train associates, enforce food handling rules, and ensure safe, compliant store operations while maintaining exceptional customer service throughout the perishables area.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Previous lead experience and/or grocery store experience preferred.
• Attainment of required local and state food handling certifications, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager with inventory management and perishable stock levels.
• Maintain freshness, pricing standards, and merchandising in perishable departments.
• Train associates in proper stocking, safety, and customer service.
• Record perishable markdowns and analyze causes to prevent recurrence.
• Ensure cash accountability, key control, and security procedures.
