Job summary

Dollar General Corporation is seeking a Perishable Department Lead to oversee produce, meat, dairy, bakery and frozen foods under the Store Manager's guidance. You will help maintain fresh stock, manage inventory, ensure safe handling of foods, and deliver strong customer service across perishable categories.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma and retail experience, with supervisory or lead experience preferred, and must meet local food-handling certifications; relocation is not

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• One year retail experience and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Previous lead experience and/or grocery store experience preferred.
• Attainment of required local and state food handling certifications, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager with cash accountability, key control and security practices.
• Follow SOPs and policies outlined in the SOP manual, Employee Handbook, and company communications.
• Train associates in perishable presentation, freshness and pricing standards.
• Train on proper and safe handling of food in compliance with applicable rules and regulations.
• Record Perishable Markdowns and analyze causes to prevent recurrences.
• Train associates in proper stocking and rotation of Perishable products.
• Accurately record inventory levels as requested by the Store Support Center.
• Assist Store Manager in addressing customers' needs and requests promptly.
• Maintain sanitation standards in Perishable departments using the Cleaning Schedule.
• Assist with other operational areas as directed by the Store Manager.
