Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Perishables Department Lead to help manage produce, dairy, meat, and bakery areas under the Store Manager's guidance. You will assist with inventory, pricing, and merchandising to ensure quality and customer satisfaction.

The role requires prior retail experience, leadership of associates, and adherence to food handling certifications. A strong focus on safety, efficiency, and excellent customer service is essential for daily store operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Previous lead experience and/or grocery store experience preferred.
• Attainment of required local and state food handling certifications, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in ensuring financial integrity through cash accountability and cash control procedures.
• Follow SOPs, Employee Handbook, and company communications.
• Maintain perishable stock levels using Ads/Planners and order guides.
• Train associates in merchandising, freshness, and pricing standards for perishable areas.
• Record inventory levels and analyze markdowns to prevent recurrences.
• Ensure customers' needs are addressed promptly and professionally.
