Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Perishable Department Lead to manage produce, meat, dairy, bakery and frozen items under Store Manager supervision. You will help with inventory, merchandising and customer service, ensuring safe operations and asset protection.

The role requires supervising staff, maintaining stock levels, following SOPs, and training associates in freshness, pricing and safety. Candidates should have high school diploma and retail experience; food handling certifications preferred.

Qualifications

• Read and interpret documents, diagrams, safety rules, and procedures.
• Learn cash register functions to generate reports.
• Review operating statements and identify trends.
• Cash handling knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in ensuring financial integrity through cash accountability and security practices.
• Follow company policies and SOPs, Employee Handbook, and communications.
• Maintain correct perishable stock levels using current ads, planners, order guides.
• Train associates in presentation, freshness, pricing, safe handling, stocking, rotation, grading, repackaging, markdown recording.
• Record inventory levels, analyze markdown causes, take corrective actions.
• Assist customers to address needs efficiently.
• Ensure compliance with sanitation standards.
• Assist in operational areas as directed.
