Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a dedicated Perishable Department Lead to manage produce, dairy, meat, bakery, and frozen items. You will assist in inventory, merchandising, and customer service while maintaining safety and policy compliance.

Ideal candidates hold a high school diploma, have retail and supervisory experience, and possess local/state food handling certifications. The role requires standing, lifting, and coordinating with store leadership.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of retail experience and 6 months of supervisory experience.
• Previous lead or grocery store experience.
• Attainment of local and state food handling certifications.
• Read and interpret documents and safety rules.
• Learn cash register functions to generate reports.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in maintaining financial integrity and cash accountability.
• Follow company policies, SOPs, and communications.
• Maintain correct perishable stock levels using ads and planners.
• Train associates in presentation, freshness, pricing, safe handling and stocking.
• Record inventory levels and analyze markdowns; take corrective actions.
• Assist customers to address needs efficiently and provide great service.
• Ensure sanitation standards compliance.
• Assist in other operating areas as needed.
