Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Perishable Manager to lead Produce, Meat, Dairy, Frozen, Bakery and related perishable areas. The role focuses on inventory control, merchandising, customer service, and staff supervision to uphold Dollar General standards.

The position requires strong math, cash handling, planning, and safety awareness with experience in grocery environments. Relocation is not offered; location is Waycross, GA.

Qualifications

• Must be able to perform basic arithmetic operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and percentages.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit controls.
• Ability to operate a cash register and handle monetary transactions.
• Familiarity with safety and loss prevention policies and practices.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to follow safety policies and procedures.
• Able to read and follow plan-o-gram and merchandising guidelines.
• Willingness to obtain required food handling certificates.

Responsibilities

• Maintain correct perishable stock levels based on store volume and planning tools.
• Support in training associates on fresh perishable presentation, freshness, and pricing standards.
• Support safe handling of food in compliance with regulations.
• Assist in managing hourly recovery and store standards.
• Ensure proper stocking and rotation of perishable products.
• Assist in scheduling coverage with Store Manager/Asst. Manager.
• Record perishable markdowns and analyze causes for corrective action.
• Train associates in produce grading and re-packaging to minimize markdowns.
• Accurately record inventory levels as requested by the Store Support Center.
• Ensure sanitation standards are followed using the Cleaning Schedule.
