Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Perishable Departments Manager to oversee Produce, Fresh Meat, Dairy, Bakery and related areas. You will manage inventory, ensure appealing merchandise presentation, and maintain a safe environment while guiding staff to meet company standards.

The role emphasizes training, adherence to food handling rules, and collaboration with Store Manager to ensure coverage and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two to three years of retail clerk experience.
• Lead experience and/or grocery store experience preferred.
• Attainment of required local and state food handling certifications, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Manage Perishable Departments including Produce, Fresh Meat, Packaged Meats, Dairy, Frozen Food, Bread, and Thaw and Sell Bakery products.
• Maintain correct perishable stock levels based on store volume using available planning tools.
• Train assigned associates in proper presentation, freshness, pricing and safe handling of perishable items.
• Assist in scheduling coverage and ensure adequate staffing for store operations.
• Record Perishable Markdowns and analyze causes to prevent recurrences.
• Ensure sanitation standards and proper rotation of Perishable products.
