Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Perishable Manager to oversee Produce, Fresh Meat, Dairy, Frozen, and Bakery departments. You will manage inventory, drive appealing merchandising, and ensure customer service and safety standards are met across the Perishables area.

Responsibilities include training staff, enforcing sanitation rules, and supporting store leadership with scheduling and performance follow-up. Prior lead or grocery experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and cashier accountability.
• Ability to operate cash registers and process transactions.
• Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
• Understanding of safety policies and procedures in a retail setting.
• Ability to read and follow plan-o-gram and merchandising guidance.
• Willingness to obtain required local/state food handling certifications.

Responsibilities

• Manage Perishable Departments, including inventory and presentation.
• Train associates in perishable standards and safe food handling.
• Assist in scheduling coverage and workload planning.
• Record inventory levels and conduct markdown analysis to reduce shrink.
• Ensure sanitation compliance and apply Cleaning Schedule guidelines.
