Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Perishable Department Manager to oversee Produce, Fresh Meat, Packaged Meats, Dairy, Frozen, Bread, and Bakery items. Ensure accurate perishable stock, appealing displays, and high-quality customer service while maintaining safety and loss-prevention standards.

The role includes leading training for associates, managing scheduling, and ensuring compliance with food handling rules and company policies. Prior lead or grocery experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• 2–3 years of retail clerk experience preferred.
• Previous lead experience and/or grocery store experience preferred.
• Attainment of required local and state food handling certifications, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Maintain correct perishable stock levels based on store volume using available tools.
• Assist in training associates in proper presentation, freshness and pricing standards for perishable areas.
• Assist in training associates in safe handling of food per rules and regulations.
• Help ensure proper execution of hourly recovery standards to meet store standards.
• Train staff in stocking and rotation of perishable products.
• Assist Store Manager in ensuring adequate scheduling coverage and performance follow-up.
