Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Perishable Department Manager to oversee Produce, Fresh Meat, Packaged Meats, Dairy, Frozen, Bakery and related areas. You will manage stock levels, pricing and presentation while ensuring food safety and compliance across departments.

Responsibilities include training associates, maintaining sanitation standards, and supporting scheduling. Prior retail leadership or supervisory experience is preferred for a smooth operation in store environments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two to three years of retail clerk experience.
• Attainment of required local and state food handling certifications, if applicable.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations and understand cash handling procedures.

Responsibilities

• Manage Perishable Departments including Produce, Fresh Meat, Packaged Meats, Dairy, Frozen Food, Bread, and Thaw and Sell Bakery products.
• Maintain correct perishable stock levels based on store volume using available tools.
• Train associates in proper presentation, freshness, and pricing standards for all perishable areas.
• Train associates in the proper and safe handling of food in compliance with applicable rules and regulations.
• Assist Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager in ensuring adequate scheduling coverage.
• Record Perishable Markdowns and monitor inventory levels; ensure sanitation standards are followed.
