Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Perishable Department Manager to oversee Produce, Fresh Meat, Dairy, Frozen, Bread, and Bakery areas. You will manage inventory levels, training, and merchandising to ensure freshness, pricing accuracy, and strong customer service. A safe work environment and asset protection are essential.

You’ll support other managers, maintain planograms, and ensure adherence to food-handling rules. Prior lead or grocery experience is preferred for this role.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform basic math like addition, subtraction, percentages.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and cashier accountability.
• Ability to operate cash register functions.
• Understand safety policies and practices in store operations.
• Effective verbal and written communication with team and customers.
• Ability to read planograms and execute merchandise presentation.
• Willingness to obtain required food handling certifications.

Responsibilities

• Manage perishables department including Produce, Meat, Dairy, and Bakery.
• Maintain correct perishable stock levels based on store volume and guides.
• Train associates on presentation, freshness, pricing standards, and safety.
• Ensure compliance with sanitation rules and inventory accuracy.
• Assist Store Manager with scheduling coverage and performance follow-up.
