Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Perishable Lead to manage the produce, meat, dairy, bakery, and related departments under the Store Manager. You will optimize inventory, merchandise presentation, and customer service while ensuring safety and asset protection.

You will train associates, monitor perishable stock levels, record markdowns, and help with pricing compliance and plan-o-grams. Prior grocery supervisory experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret diagrams, safety rules, and instruction manuals.
• Ability to perform basic math and percentages for reports and inventory.
• Capable of operating a cash register and generating reports.
• Ability to review statements and identify trends in sales and profitability.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and deposit control.
• Experience with inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Ability to read planograms and follow merchandise presentation guidance.
• Willingness to comply with SOPs and policies.
• Ability to obtain required food handling certifications.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in managing perishable departments including inventory control.
• Maintain correct stock levels based on store volume and planning tools.
• Train associates on presentation, freshness and pricing standards.
• Record perishable markdowns and analyze causes to prevent recurrences.
• Ensure customer needs are addressed in a timely manner.
• Assist with sanitation and safety compliance in the Perishable areas.
• Assist with other operational areas as directed by the Store Manager.
