Job summary

Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago is seeking a Patient Service Representative to support family-centered care at the front desk and registration areas.

You will handle pre-registration, eligibility checks, consents, and data entry in Epic. The role requires strong customer service, communication skills, and the ability to work with pediatric patients and families in a dynamic hospital setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED required; some college preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, third-party billing, and managed care preferred.
• Familiarity with electronic medical records (Epic).
• Strong customer service and communication skills for families and staff.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrates confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.

Responsibilities

• Complete pre-registration and full registration for families as needed.
• Verify eligibility information and collect consents for care and forms.
• Enter orders and patient data into Epic and related systems.
• Coordinate referrals, authorizations, and same-day visit scheduling.
• Inform patients about wait times and collect payments when applicable.
• Print labels, prepare intake forms, and ensure proper documentation for scanning.
• Collaborate with team members to coordinate care and services.
