Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking an on-call Patient Transporter for night shifts in the Communications Center, transporting patients throughout the hospital and assisting nursing staff with transfers. This role requires adherence to infection control, safety checks, and precise documentation.

A high school diploma is required, with strong English skills and customer service orientation essential. The position is non-exempt with a variable schedule and potential signing bonus eligibility

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
• Good interpersonal skills and a customer service orientation to support patient transportation and hospital departments.

Responsibilities

• Transport patients throughout the hospital by wheelchair, stretcher or bed.
• Assist nursing staff with patient transfers and use of lift devices.
• Deliver beds, stretchers, and equipment; sanitize and maintain transport equipment.
• Transport patient specimens, medications, and reports per hospital guidelines.
• Record transport activity and use dispatch systems for job assignment.
