Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is hiring for a Patient Transporter. The role performs transportation of patients throughout the hospital, assists nursing staff, and delivers supplies while maintaining infection control standards.

Qualifications

• BLS certification within 6 months of hire.
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
• Good interpersonal skills and customer service orientation for patient-focused collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Escort ambulatory patients by wheelchair, stretcher, or bed and verify patient identity with two identifiers.
• Assist nursing staff with patient transfer and positioning, using lift devices as needed and following infection control protocols.
• Deliver and clean transport equipment; collect and deliver items to labs, pharmacy, radiology, and other areas.
• Transport patient specimens and materials between labs and units per infection control guidelines.
• Deliver other materials such as medical records, pharmaceuticals, and reports as required.
