Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Patient Transporter to support patient movement throughout the hospital. Duties include transporting ambulatory and non-ambulatory patients, assisting nursing staff, handling transport equipment and maintaining logs in a busy hospital setting.

The role requires basic education, strong English communication and customer service skills, with on-call and holiday shifts. A signing bonus may be available as part of the recruitment process.

Qualifications

• Must read, write, speak and understand English.
• Good interpersonal and customer service skills to support hospital departments.

Responsibilities

• Escort ambulatory patients by wheelchair, stretcher or bed and ensure patient safety during transport.
• Assist in moving and positioning patients using lift devices.
• Deliver stretchers, beds and wheelchairs as needed and assist in cleaning transport equipment.
• Transport patient specimens and other items per infection control guidelines.
• Maintain transport logs and use TDSS web-based dispatch system.
