Job summary

MyMichigan Health is seeking a Patient Services Assistant to serve as the front-line contact in the practice. You will greet patients, answer phones, schedule appointments and register patients, while verifying insurance information.

You will collect payments, process referrals, and coordinate with front office, clinical staff and providers. The role requires courtesy, professionalism and a commitment to excellent customer service for a diverse patient population.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in medical office administration preferred.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and answer phones; schedule appointments and register patients.
• Verify insurance information and update patient demographics.
• Collect payments and post to patient accounts; prepare referrals as needed.
• Schedule tests and procedures; coordinate with front office, clinical staff and providers.
• Explain policies to patients; obtain emails for portal registration and surveys.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and protect patient privacy.
• Assist with opening/closing procedures and document handling.
