Job summary

MyMichigan Health is seeking a front-line Patient Service Assistant to deliver courteous clerical and receptionist support within a practice. You will manage patient flow, answer calls, register patients, verify insurance, schedule appointments, and assist with referrals and payments.

As the first contact, you will demonstrate professionalism, compassion and excellent customer service to a diverse patient population while coordinating with front office, clinical staff and providers.

Qualifications

• Reading, writing, mathematical and computer skills required.
• Keyboarding skills to register patients and perform office tasks.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and medical office policies.
• Two years of experience in a medical office or similar setting.

Responsibilities

• Strives for excellent customer service; greet patients and answer phones promptly.
• Verify and update patient information; verify insurance and confirm provider is assigned correctly.
• Schedule patient appointments across multiple systems (PM, EMR, insurance verification, Medifax, POP registry, Iterminal).
• Register new patients and explain policies; collect email for portal registration when available.
• Schedule future appointments, tests, or procedures; collect copays and process referrals; obtain prior authorizations as needed.
