Job summary

Akron Children's in Medina, OH seeks a Patient Service Representative for full-time onsite work. You will support patients through visit preparation, co-pay collection, scheduling and front desk duties, while ensuring a positive patient experience.

Responsibilities include greeting patients, handling phone inquiries, coordinating scheduling, and maintaining orderly office operations. Prior experience in a healthcare setting and Microsoft Office is preferred.

Qualifications

• Education: high school diploma or equivalent required.
• Clerical or administrative office experience preferred.
• Healthcare environment experience preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) or similar software.

Responsibilities

• Develops and maintains positive relationships with patients and families by greeting and responding promptly and compassionately.
• Performs at the point of service: visit preparation, co-pay collection, patient tracking and other duties as assigned.
• Schedules patient visits or diagnostic testing using hospital procedures and resources.
• Manages third-party payors and collection of co-pays.
• Handles routine clerical tasks such as faxing, copying, filing, mailings and phone messages.
• Maintains front desk inventory and communicates needs to staff.
• Keeps operations running smoothly by prioritizing workload and anticipating needs and deadlines.
• Maintains department appearance and waiting room cleanliness as needed.
• Participates in cross-coverage of clerical/administrative duties as required.
• Ensures HIPAA compliance is followed; performs other duties as required.
