Job summary

PathGroup is seeking a Patient Services Technician to perform daily patient service activities in the PSC or in-office PST role. You will interact with clients and patients professionally and conduct forensic and clinical specimen collection, processing, and related duties following established procedures.

The position requires completing requisitions, entering data, and maintaining accurate records while ensuring specimen integrity and safety.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred (may be required based on state and laboratory guidelines).
• Phlebotomist Certification is preferred (Required in Louisiana).

Responsibilities

• Greets customers appropriately.
• Ensures all field phlebotomy and PSC specimens are collected accurately and on time.
• Collects specimens according to established procedures; explains venipuncture process clearly to reduce patient anxiety.
• Disposes of blood or biohazard fluids/tissue per laws and policies; disposes of contaminated sharps.
• Completes requisitions accurately in PathConnect and other PathGroup applications.
• Enters patient, specimen, insurance, or billing information into computer; verifies accuracy.
• Matches requisition forms to specimen tubes; labels, centrifuges, splits, and freezes as required.
• Packages specimens for transport; stores per required temperature; maintains specimen integrity.
• Maintains records and logs; assists with monthly statistics and data.
• Performs basic clerical duties including electronic data entry; approves time in attendance software.
• Communicates pertinent information to supervisor for resolution and maintains professional conduct.
