Job summary

PathGroup is seeking a Patient Services Technician to perform phlebotomy and specimen processing in our on-site PSC or PST setting. You will interact with clients and patients in a professional manner while collecting specimens, documenting in PathConnect, and ensuring accurate test orders.

The role requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication, and adherence to safety standards. Prior phlebotomy experience is preferred, and Louisiana requires certification for the phlebotomy

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or preferred; phlebotomy certification preferred (Louisiana requires certification).
• Minimum 1 year of related job experience preferred.
• Phlebotomy and specimen processing duties performed in accordance with established procedures.

Responsibilities

• Greets customers professionally and courteously.
• Ensures field phlebotomy and PSC specimens are collected accurately and on time.
• Collects specimens and explains venipuncture and specimen collection procedures clearly to patients.
• Accurately completes requisitions in PathConnect and records patient and billing information.
• Matches requisition forms to specimens and prepares/labels as required by test order.
• Packages and stores specimens according to protocol to maintain specimen integrity.
• Maintains daily records and PSC/IOPST logs and supports monthly statistics compilation.
• Performs basic clerical duties and electronic data entry.
• Adheres to grooming, lab coat policies and safety procedures; uses PPE as required.
