Job summary

Summit Health in New Jersey is seeking a friendly, patient-focused Patient Service Representative to join our front desk and registration team. You will greet patients, collect information, verify insurance, schedule appointments and support billing processes with accuracy under physician-led care.

Ideal candidates have HS diploma or GED, strong communication, and experience with EHR/PM systems. This on-site role offers daily patient interaction and a stable, team-driven work environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree preferred.
• English communication skills required (oral and written).
• Excellent customer service skills required.
• Ability to organize and multitask.
• Knowledge of medical office terminology preferred.
• Basic computer proficiency; Windows environment.
• Experience with EHR and Practice Management systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greets visitors and directs them appropriately.
• Maintains efficient patient flow through registration and customer service.
• Answers phone, directs calls, takes messages and delivers to appropriate staff.
• Informs patients of delays and assists with patient comfort.
• Processes self-pay charges, collects payments, reconciles daily payments.
• Opens and closes batches, reconciles collections and deposits.
• Scans insurance cards, performs insurance verifications and updates patient records.
• Schedules appointments according to guidelines and uses waitlists when applicable.
• Enters orders for diagnostic tests and procedures and coordinates pre-authorizations.
• Communicates problems or issues promptly to the supervisor/manager.
