Job summary

Prometheus Federal Services (PFS) is seeking a Medical Support Assistant for an on-site role at the Veterans Affairs Outpatient Clinic in San Bruno, CA. The MSA will handle front desk scheduling, phone inquiries, and coordination with the Lead Scheduler to support patient flow and timely appointments.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, 6 months clerical experience with scheduling software, excellent English, and strong computer/telephone skills.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 6 months clerical experience and scheduling software familiarity.
• Fluent English (speaking, reading, writing).
• Typing 45–60 wpm with low error rate.
• Experience with medical terminology and hospital terms.
• Proficiency in Excel, Outlook and Word; general computer literacy.
• Ability to pass a NACI background check and obtain public trust.
• Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Schedule appointments and coordinate across the VHA directive.
• Answer phone calls for scheduling requests and update CPRS charts.
• Collaborate with Lead Scheduler to ensure timely patient communications.
• Maintain a professional VA-facing demeanor and provide quality customer service.
• Support quality improvement and compliance with applicable policies.
