Job summary

Prometheus Federal Services (PFS) is seeking a Medical Support Assistant for on-site work at the Veterans Affairs Behavioral Health Clinic in Oakland, CA. The MSA will handle front desk duties, appointment scheduling, and phone coverage in support of patient flow.

Ideal candidates have a High School diploma, 6 months clerical and scheduling software experience, and strong English fluency. Proficiency in MS Office and medical terminology is preferred; ability to pass a NACI background check is

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 6 months general clerical experience and 6 months experience with scheduling software.
• Fluent in speaking, reading and writing English.
• Typing 45-60 wpm with few errors.
• Heavy phone and computer usage.
• Familiarity with medical terminology and clinics.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate appointment scheduling and front desk duties per VA directives.
• Answer phone calls for scheduling requests daily, Monday–Friday.
• Collaborate with Lead Scheduler to ensure timely patient communications.
• Ensure schedulers/receptionists represent VA positively.
• Participate in quality improvement to meet performance measures.
• Provide quality customer service to patients, families, VA staff, contractors, physicians, fellows and residents.
• Uphold safety policies per JCAHO, OSHA and Hybrid-Title 38.
• Other duties as assigned.
