Job summary

Ochsner LSU Health is seeking a Patient Scheduling Specialist to handle inbound and outbound calls, schedule patient appointments, and ensure alignment with physician guidelines and patient preferences. The role includes capturing basic registration and insurance data in our HIPAA-compliant systems.

Required is a high school diploma or equivalent, with one year of healthcare or customer service experience; an Associate degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Associate degree in related field preferred.
• One year of experience in healthcare, customer service, or related field required.

Responsibilities

• Handle appointment scheduling, cancellations and confirmations within guidelines.
• Register basic patient information and insurance data in system.
• Schedule system-wide appointments and provide prep instructions.
• Address urgent needs following protocol and direct non-scheduling calls appropriately.
• Manage messages from calls, chats, portals and texts for appointments and referrals.
