Ochsner LSU Health invites an experienced Registration Specialist to welcome patients and guests, initiate scheduling or admission, verify demographics, and collect payments. You will verify insurance electronically or via phone/web and support multiple functions across patient and payer types.

Qualifications include a high school diploma (Associate's degree preferred), hospital or medical office experience, and knowledge of billing regulations.

• Must have computer skills and dexterity for data entry and retrieval of information.
• Effective verbal and written communication with clear, professional presentation.
• Proficiency with Windows-style applications and role-specific software.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively.
• Knowledge of healthcare insurance benefits and payor guidelines.
• Understanding of billing regulations at federal, state, and local levels.
• Ability to present information clearly and respond to questions from patients.
• Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
• Sound judgment for handling difficult situations; ability to escalate when needed.
• Willingness to cooperate across departments and manage time effectively.

Responsabilités

• Provide excellent customer service to patients, guests, and families.
• Create, activate, and complete patient scheduling, registration, or admission processes.
• Ensure all forms are completed and paperwork collected accurately.
• Input demographic and financial information; explain insurance benefits and collect co-pays/deductibles.
• Perform financial analysis of each case and inform patients of responsibility.
• Balance cash drawer daily and follow end-of-shift procedures.
• Demonstrate respect and cooperation in staff relationships and resolve conflicts.
• Adapt communication to patient population while protecting privacy.
• Handle related duties as required.
