Job summary

Atrium Health in Kannapolis seeks a detail-oriented Patient Access/Registration Specialist to greet patients, collect demographics and insurance information, verify coverage, and collect co-pays. You will ensure HIPAA compliance and use EPIC EMR to support accurate medical records.

In this role, you will coordinate appointments, educate patients on coverage, and collaborate with Financial Advocates as needed while delivering exceptional customer service in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
• HIPAA-compliant and knowledgeable of applicable state and federal rules/regulations.
• Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Demonstrated strong communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Creates and maintains patient records and ensures accurate demographic, guarantor, and insurance data.
• Registers and checks in patients, collecting co-pays and out-of-pocket responsibilities, while ensuring timely payments.
• Explains insurance coverage to patients and refers to Financial Advocates when needed.
• Follows HIPAA and other regulatory requirements; secures signatures as required.
• Schedules patient appointments and provides clear test preparation and arrival instructions.
• Provides welcoming, professional customer service to patients and visitors; assists with transportation and interpreter services as needed.
• Monitors EHR work queues and follows department procedures.
