Job summary

Atrium Health is seeking a patient access/registration professional to create the foundational electronic health record for patients and support the healthcare team. You will verify demographics, insurance, and financial responsibilities, ensuring patient safety and timely payment while maintaining confidentiality as required by HIPAA.

You will greet patients, explain appointment details, collect required information, and direct them to the appropriate services.

Qualifications

• HIPAA-compliant and knowledgeable of applicable state and federal rules/regulations.
• Excellent customer service skills in a variety of situations. Must have excellent service recovery skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Demonstrated independent thinking and problem-solving skills, ability to exercise judgment to triage issues and concerns.

Responsibilities

• Creates and maintains the initial electronic health record foundation for the patient medical record.
• Checks in and registers patients, verifies demographics and insurance information, and discusses co-pays.
• Provides information on test preparations and directions to the facility; delivers welcoming customer service.
• Monitors electronic health record work queues and follows department processes.
