Job summary

Behavioral Health Group (BHG) is seeking a Patient Registration Coordinator for our Virginia Beach clinic. You’ll be the first friendly face patients see, registering new and returning patients, verifying demographics and insurance, and guiding them through the intake process.

This role supports insurance verification, copay collection, and daily financial transactions while maintaining privacy and compassionate service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year of general office clerk experience with basic math, accounting, and cash handling.
• Valid driver's license.
• Experience in front desk, admissions, billing and/or collections.
• Preferred: healthcare experience; familiarity with insurance verification and EHR systems.

Responsibilities

• Be the first friendly face for patients, creating a warm and professional arrival experience.
• Register new and returning patients; verify demographics, insurance and ID.
• Verify eligibility, benefits and authorizations; explain coverage and responsibilities.
• Explain insurance terms and collect payments (copays, deductibles, coinsurance).
• Answer calls promptly; provide compassionate support.
• Maintain accurate financial records and protect clinic funds.
• Process reimbursements (including Medicaid) when applicable.
• Support daily office operations with filing, scanning and data entry.
• Assist with census reporting and caseload tracking.
